We are working with a leading bespoke contractor specialising in delivering high-quality construction packages to projects across the UK who are now looking for an experienced Construction Estimator to join them at their offices in Edinburgh.

The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in the tendering process, utilising their expertise to accurately estimate project costs and prepare competitive bids for packages valued up to £5 million.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Analyse project documentation, including drawings, specifications, and contracts, to determine project requirements and scope.
  • Conduct thorough material take-offs and labour assessments to accurately estimate project costs.
  • Collaborate with subcontractors, suppliers, and other stakeholders to obtain competitive pricing and quotes.
  • Prepare detailed and comprehensive tender submissions within specified deadlines.
  • Evaluate and negotiate subcontractor and supplier proposals to ensure competitiveness and compliance with project requirements.
  • Participate in pre-tender meetings, site visits, and client presentations as required.
  • Assist in the development and refinement of estimating processes and procedures to enhance efficiency and accuracy.

Ideal Requirements:

  • Proven experience as an Estimator within the construction industry, with a strong track record of successfully bidding on projects.
  • In-depth knowledge of construction methods, materials, and techniques.
  • Proficiency in an estimating software and Microsoft Office suite.
  • Excellent analytical and numerical skills, with keen attention to detail.
  • Strong communication and negotiation abilities, with the confidence to interact effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
  • Relevant qualification in construction management, quantity surveying, or a related field is desirable but in no way essential, as evidenced experience counts just as much.
