Title: Lead Geotechnical Engineer

Location: London

My client is looking for a Lead Geotechnical Engineer to join their multidisciplinary design and engineering consultancy in London. Our client is well-known in the sector and is actively involved in projects at all phases of the life cycle, both nationally and internationally. Their projects include ground engineering, roadways, rail networks, tunnelling, and other infrastructure.

The successful applicant will oversee heading an innovative design team in London, as well as contributing to the extension of geotechnical expertise within the company. This individual will be critical in directing large projects to satisfy the sector's increasing expectations, as well as serving as a mentor to team members, promoting their professional growth.

Qualifications

  • Hold a degree and preferably possess a postgraduate qualification in a relevant field.
  • Professional qualification as a Chartered Civil Engineer.
  • Demonstrated extensive expertise in geotechnical design, encompassing analysis, numerical modelling, and data interpretation.
  • Proven track record with projects involving the design and analysis of deep piled foundations, pile groups, deep excavations, basements, retaining structures, earthworks, soil and rock slope engineering, and ground improvement recommendations.

Responsibilities

  • Lead projects both in the UK and internationally.
  • Oversee technical delivery, forecasting, budgeting, planning, and resourcing for all project aspects.
  • Serve as a mentor to junior staff, aiding in their development and Chartering processes.
  • Identify and cultivate new business opportunities while nurturing existing client relationships.
  • Maintain a high level of technical proficiency in the relevant field to ensure quality service offerings.

Desired Technical Skills

  • Proficient in 2D and 3D finite element analysis software (e.g., PLAXIS, Z-soil).
  • Familiarity with various geotechnical software (WALLAP, gINT, Apile, Repute, GROUP, or equivalent).
  • Previous experience using 2D and 3D computer-aided design and engineering tools (CAD and CAE)."
