Quantity Surveyor

£25,000 - £40,000 per annum (Permanent)

Thirsk, North Yorkshire

Our Northern based clients are on the lookout for a Quantity Surveyor to easily join their team and provide a host of services in relation to cost estimating, tendering, Procurement and post-contract works.

For 10 years their ISO 9001 registered team have delivered a wide range of projects from new builds to refurbishments and helped clients in both the public and private sector with multi-disciplinary property services.

Qualifications - (BSc) Degree in Quantity Surveying - accredited with the RICS

Responsibilities:

·Manage projects from start to finish
·Work within the multi-discipline organisation as a member of the QS team
·Use the available processes and tools to help project delivery
·Create estimates, tender documentation and cost plans using a variety of measurement forms and contracts
·Pricing variations through-out the full contract and offer cost advice
·Being present for site meetings and offering project support
·Effective measurements for Schedule of Works and Bills of Quantities
·Formulate financial cost reports (monthly) and cashflow forecasts during the contract
·Create and agree interim valuations with contractors and offer payment recommendations
·Value engineering services
·When required - Lead, record and issue meeting notes for client, contractor and multi-discipline meetings
·Offer advice on JCT/NEC contracts and other relevant contracts
·Agree re-measurement of quantities with contractors, and create and agree concluding accounts and claims. Create concluding accounts for clients that are appropriate for audit
·Be dedicated to preserving an annual programme of Continuing Professional Development
·Finish work to clear business processes, time frames and standards
·Take control of your responsibilities and duties
·Creation and studying of statistical cost information to track trends in the Building Industry and helping with cost planning future projects
·Happy to be flexible with hours and take on any duties that might occur
·Help national and local sales and bids when needed
·Preserve a car, full driving license and insurance
·To be capable in the appropriate areas in relation to the discipline, listed below -
Professional ethics, Design Economics, Contract administration, Legal/regulatory compliance, Communication and Negotiation, Contracts, Procurement and Tendering, Financial Organisation of Projects, Construction Technology and Environmental Services, Study of client needs, Quantification of Construction, Avoiding conflict, management and dispute procedures Conservation and restoration

Experience and Knowledge:

·Has experience, post degree as a Quantity Surveyor
·Can showcase their knowledge and grasp of professional ethics. The ideal candidate can describe history of where they have applied this knowledge during client visits
·Has an understanding of competence elements with accuracy
·Can work without being managed and use their own judgement
·Can ask for assistance from others to help with complex situations
·Can prioritise actions to help meet overall goals
·Showcasing their knowledge in a variety of projects
·History of working carefully with other disciplines to generate coordinated deliverables.

Technical Skills and Ability:

·Experience of: Cost control, Contract administration, Helping on procurement options, Cost risk management, Preparing procurement documentation, Cost forecasting and reporting, Using computerised measurements packages, Pre and post contract knowledge, Contract documentation, Contract documentation preparation, Using Electronic Tendering packages, Adequate overall commercial awareness
·Aware of JCT and NEC contracts and any other applicable industry standard forms of contract
·Pre and post contract knowledge

Other Requirements:

·Outstanding literacy and numeracy skills
·Effectively liaise with colleagues and be the face of the company during Client meetings
·Problem solving ability and being analytical
·Notice the small details and having an accurate approach.
·Comfortable to use own initiative, take ownership and responsibility.
·Managing and prioritising own workload to meet the project demands.
·Ability to be imaginative whilst working on their own/part of the team.
·Follow distinct business and discipline processes, deadlines and standards
·High self-motivation and pro-active skills and can show their ability to see projects through from initiation to finish.


Salary on offer:

£25,000 - £40,000 depending on experience
