One of Yorkshires leading housing developers have kindly handed me an opportunity to represent as they are looking for a Quantity Surveyor to operate in key locations like Harrogate, Wetherby and North Leeds. They have been around 30 years and have gone from strength to strength and it's all down to successfully delivering a wide range of housing projects in West and North Yorkshire. During this period, the awards have been stacking up and looks like they will continue stacking for many years to come. Summary:Working across the feasibility, acquisition and construction phases of the project, you will be given chance to perform commercial and technical tasks alongside professionals, contractors and consultants. These projects can range from medium sized developments, conversions, individual homes or new builds. Acquisition:·Within development appraisals, you will offer cost advice on matters relating to construction·Perform 'irregular' cost drills and professional reports to be used by the acquisition team·Deliver value engineering and build-ability information to the land & sales team pre-contract Construction:·Carry out all procurement of supply & fit sub-contractors, materials, labour only sub-contractors and materials required to complete the development ·Conduct evaluations and settlement of all supplier and sub-contractor invoices·Offer consistent reports to the directors and chairman on the project probability and expenditure ·Speak with the clients to settle the specification and costs for all tailored areas of the property and differences to the build contract ·Lead and liaise with designers and consultants during the project to guarantee the timely delivery of design information to sub-contractors and site management ·Speak with the warranty provider and building control on all practical matters and ensure sign offs are achieved ·Speak with statutory bodies to guarantee essential approvals are settled for matters such as road opening notices, sewer connections and highway works etc Company Wide:·Communicate with the customer care administrator to guarantee all post-handover features are answered to and dealt with to the approval of the company and client·Look for, evaluate and choose all sub-contractors and suppliers·Offer help with all things relating to health and safety and construction alongside the site manager and managing director. Key Skills:·Fantastic written and verbal skills ·Fantastic IT and numerical skills ·Fantastic negotiating skills ·Heavily focussed on detail and the quality of the end product ·Strong grasp of building regulations and other practice/guidelines·Fantastic knowledge of construction materials and methods ·Can work to a high standard independently and within a team·Full UK driving license Hours and Benefits:·Monday to Thursday 9am-5.30pm and Friday 9am-5pm.
