Contracts Service Manager - Water Treatment & Environmental Scheme - Nottinghamshire

Contracts Service Manager Required to manage and coordinate Contracts related to the operational maintenance and remediation of mining legacy ensuring contractual compliance, value for money, continuous improvement and whole life efficiencies savings.

Also required to foster a culture of partnership and innovation, able to recognise and action opportunity for major change in support of our clients' ambitious core objective of zero cost mine water treatment schemes.

Responsibilities of the Contracts Service Manager:

·To expertly manage the contract for the operational maintenance of coal mine and metal mine water treatment schemes effectively dealing with contract negotiations and performance management issues including the agreeing of KPI's. Making use of a high level of NEC contract management skills to manage contracts, drive continuous improvement, attain best value and ensure accountability.

·To write, procure and manage contracts including ad-hoc maintenance works, capital expenditure schemes, and professional services - ensuring challenge and efficiency are key deliverables at all levels of activity.

·To assist the Principal Contracts Manager in the framework management of Design and Build Contracts and Operational Maintenance Contracts.

·Ensure positive relations with key stakeholders such as Term Contractors, Environmental Agencies and Government bodies - proactively promoting partnership working, networking and stimulating opportunities.

·To provide sound technical support for the operation of mine water treatments schemes, pumping operations, chemical treatment, reed bed maintenance, ocherous and organic waste management.

·Assisting in the introduction of new and innovative technologies targeted at improving operational efficiency and minimising waste disposal to landfill.

·To manage the TCA's responsibilities with Internal Drainage Board's liaising with the board's engineers and having responsibility for budget planning, expenditure, report writing and approvals. Representing TCA at meetings.

·To ensure sound financial management providing monthly reports, authorising invoice payments and, on a regular basis, carrying out audits of works. Carrying out competitive negotiating of prices and rates to ensure continuous financial improvement. Responsible for monitoring pain/gain mechanisms on a monthly basis and reporting budgetary performance.

·To provide constructive challenge to Contractors and Consultants driving a culture of change and adaptation. Being responsible for the operation of the innovation log.

·To ensure that all personal and corporate objectives are achieved.

·To recognise business opportunities and promote TCA brand.
·To carry out continuous statistical and data analysis of operations identifying and implementing on-going efficiencies and more-for-less methods of working. Creating a relationship with contractors in which the introduction of innovation and efficiencies in service provision are considered normal business and are effectively managed.

·Manage and develop a work programme preparing scope of works, issuing work instructions and task orders, inspecting contractors work on site, agreeing prices, approving and challenging method statements and resolving risk.

·To work with colleagues, contractors and stakeholders to develop a programme of proactive maintenance, reactive maintenance and Capital Works projects.

·To ensure the highest level of Health and Safety both personal and in the operation of sites. Undertake regular site audits taking appropriate actions as required.

·To assist in the tendering for external funding and commercial opportunities. Submitting competent high quality returns that are highly competitive and show originality where required.

Requirements of the Contracts Service Manager:

·Minimum HNC in an appropriate industry
·Waste water industry experience (mining and/or water utility)
·Waste Disposal/Recycling
·Highly experience in project and contract management
·Negotiation Skills
·Analytical Skills
·Risk Manager
·Desirable Requirements include BSc in associated technical subject, working knowledge of NEC3 Contracts, Environmental & Waste Management compliance & Electrical/Engineering skills
