Senior Building Surveyor

£45000 - £55000 per annum + Benefits (Permanent)

Multi-disciplinary practice which consists of architects, building surveyors, project managers, employers agents, cost consultants, principal designers and CDM consultancy and clerk of works is seeking an experienced Senior Building Surveyor to join their London office.

Our client requires an experienced senior building surveyor with a number of years' experience in the housing sector. Professional qualifications are not essential but would be an advantage.

Undertaking most of their work in the public housing sector and so the candidate must be interested in working primarily in the social housing market although we do get involved in commercial, educational and health sectors. Our clients are mostly housing associations, local authorities and developers although we do have private commercial and housing clients, healthcare and educational trusts.

The majority of our client's work is project based so experience from inception to completion is essential. This will involve agreeing a brief with the client and taking instruction, undertaking condition surveys and detailed costed reports, feasibility reports and option appraisals, preparing specifications and tender documents, tendering and reporting, contract documentation and full contract administration to final certificate including full cost management. There is also opportunity to undertake more professional work such as party wall matters, schedules of condition, defect diagnosis, technical inspector and fire risk assessments.

The candidate must have a working knowledge of the main JCT and NEC contracts and must be able to work largely unsupervised. The opportunity for career progression is significant dependent on the right candidate. Assistance in bid preparation and business development would be an advantage.
