Building Surveyor

£55,000 - £65,000 per annum + benefits (Permanent)

Conrad Consulting is currently recruiting for a Building Surveyor to join our client based on the Cambridge/Suffolk boarder. If this sounds like the position for you, please read on below.

Our Client: Well established real estate, investment and development consultancy.

Projects: Residential, Commercial, Mixed Use and Retail.

Company Headcount: 10 - 20

Role of the Building Surveyor:

* Inspecting and producing an acceptable and agreed tender specification for refurbishment of office buildings, running tender process and appointing contractors, often under JCT minor works contracts. Overseeing contractors works and signing off stage payments etc. Ensuring the refurbishment works are completed to a high standard and on time. Our client currently have 15,000 sq ft of office space in Cambridge undergoing refurbishment and circa 20,000 to 40,000 sq ft in Stratford, London currently out to tender.
* Submitting pre-apps to Local Planning Authorities and liaison with planning officers as and where required. We currently have a pre-app submitted for logistics building of circa 70,000 sq ft not far from Cambridge and also we have a pre-app submitted in London for the conversion of an office building to 120 bedroom Hotel. The schemes were drawn in house and the ability to use auto-cad, or similar, a distinct advantage.
* Producing drawings for potential developments schemes on both existing buildings and also sites, for internal discussion purposes with a view to planning application submission.
* Liaising and overseeing external professional advisors in respect of works, for example we have instructed a local firm of architects to produce drawings and a specification for the re-roofing of a large town centre building in Ipswich, circa 175,000 sq ft.
* Schemes we are currently in the process of designing include a 160 residential unit build to rent scheme in central Cambridge. 25,000 sq ft office extension central Cambridge. Both pre-planning stage, but with schemes partially worked up.
* Looking at ways in which to improve environmental performance of existing buildings within the portfolio.

Requirements of the Building Surveyor:

* Hold a relevant construction related degree
* RICS qualified or working towards qualification
* Previous AutoCAD software experience
